Mike Hazel - April 2024

For the month of April we would like to take time and shine the spotlight upon Mike Hazel ( @therichyoungrebel ).

Mike is a visual artist from the DMV area who we first had the pleasure of meeting in college when he was attending Loyola University. He is currently based in San Francisco and has expanded his work through music, oil pastel art, and rolling papers. In the beginning, Mike grew interest in art from watching Dragonball Z and Pokemon. In his heart he’s always wanted to be a cartoonist so this desire took him to continue  drawing, and has evolved the way he views art itself.

Over time Mike gravitated more towards abstract art and using colors to deliver the message in his art. He has had his work on display at many pop ups such as Pancake and Booze ( @pancakesandbooze ) in Arizona, Yarrows gallery ( @yarrowslaps )and Yucci outlet ( @yucci_outlet ) in San Francisco. During his time in the Bay he has also been more active in using graffiti, and tagging his popular face pieces around the city. They have also ended up on clothing as he has recently had pieces in the 2nd Annual FASHÜN0002 runaway event with Thrid Space ( @2051thirdspace ) in the Bay Area.

Mike also is a music artist and owner of the rolling paper company Dolowan ( @dolowan ). He allows his company to stand alone, but if you get your hands on a pack you’ll see his art on the covering.
